Our team's passion is making unique woodwork for homesArchitectural Woodcraft was started in 1989 to meet the area’s growing need for the preservation and restoration of historic buildings. We helped renovate many of Asheville’s architectural gems, such as the Basilica of St. Lawrence, the Grove Arcade, as well as many private homes. Our shop has grown over the decades and we now do much of our woodworking in contemporary and modern styles and techniques. Areas of particular expertise include custom doors, windows, cabinetry, furniture and architectural details. We build the kitchens, bathrooms and living spaces that make a house special. Our unparalleled craftsmanship and creativity shows in the quality and beauty of our work. Whether it’s a commercial project or home, we are eager to help you with your next restoration or new construction project. Let us make something special for you.

  • Architectural Woodcraft made all the interior cabinetry in our new guest house. It is a modernist house with extensive built-ins including bunk beds, dressers, wardrobes, and pull out shelving. Craig Weis worked closely with the architect and contributed greatly to the beauty of the house.

The house has recently won an honor award from the Asheville division of the American Institute of Architects. This is the second house on which Craig has collaborated with us, and we admire his creativity, his craftsmanship, and his attention to every detail.

  • I’ve meant to say, over and over again, how great our cabinets are. You created so much space! You were right—the drawers are wonderful for pots, bowls and heavy things. The cabinets are deep and strong. You made so much more space than was here before. We’re loving it!
    Anyway, thanks.

  • The people at Architectural Woodcraft were the best subcontractors we worked with when we built our new home. From the beginning, they were professional and easy to work with, showed attention to detail, were persistent with developing stains, came when expected and were efficient installers. We couldn’t be happier with the result and would recommend them highly for any cabinet needs.

  • Jim and I wanted to have our front door completely redesigned. We contacted Craig, with Architectural Woodcraft, after seeing an article in a magazine about their work. They did not disappoint! We are thrilled with our new entrance and appreciated their craftsmanship, diligence, and kindness throughout the process. We also added screen doors to the order for six doors…they are also just what we wanted. Craig and his associates were wonderful to carry out our plan. Thanks guys for a job well done! We love it.
